Hola Amigos de la red, DERMAGIC EXPRESS hoy con el interesante
tema: EL LEPROCOMIO DE CABO BLANCO. Como fue explicado en el
capitulo LA ISLA DE PROVIDENCIA, los conquistadores Españoles y
Alemanes Trajeron La LEPRA a este continente.
En el caso de
CABO BLANCO
no se trato de que los LEPROSOS fueran confinados desde un
comienzo en La Guaira Estado Vargas, estos fueron ubicados
primeramente en la ciudad Capital, CARACAS y luego de creada La
leprosería en MARACAIBO en los años 1.928-30 por Simón Bolívar, en
la ISLA DE PROVIDENCIA, se creo el LEPROCOMIO DE CABO BLANCO en una región frente al
MAR CARIBE en las Costas de un CABO identificado como CABO BLANCO,
de allí viene su nombre.
LOCALIZACIÓN APROXIMADA DEL LEPROSARIO DE CABO BLANCO, LA

AL FINAL DE LA PISTA DEL AEROPUERTO INTERNACIONAL DE
MAIQUETIA.
Es importante que conozcas que el Aeropuerto Internacional de Maiquetía
esta relacionado con CABO BLANCO, de hecho sus pistas de aterrizaje están
al frente de este CABO, el LEPROCOMIO estaba ubicado cerca de este.
En 1 de enero de 1.945 cuando ya el
LEPROCOMIO DE CABO BLANCO tenia
mas de 20 años ubicado allí, el Presidente de la República para esa época,
Isaías Medina Angarita inauguró el Aeropuerto Internacional de Maiquetía,
el cual con los años se fue expandiendo para darle cabida a NUEVAS PISTAS
DE ATERRIZAJE y más largas.
Es interesante recordarte que el primer medicamento efectivo contra la
LEPRA sintetizado, fue el DDS (DAPSONA) con el nombre comercial
de PROMIN, componente químico GLUCOSULFONA DE SODIO
(laboratorio Parke Davis) en el año 1.940, cuando todavía no existía
tratamiento efectivo para esta enfermedad.
La Presentación comercial del medicamento

La eficacia del PROMIN contra la LEPRA fue descubierta por primera vez por
Guy Henry Faget y sus compañeros de trabajo en 1.943 en Carville,
Louisiana, y luego utilizado en las diferentes
LEPROSERÍAS DEL MUNDO,
incluyendo CABO BLANCO.
Mi padre me contó que CUANDO ERA DIRECTOR DEL LEPROCOMIO ..." Los
estudiantes de medicina iban a CABO BLANCO a practicar cómo colocar
inyecciones con el PROMIN..." Posteriormente fue sintetizada la
DIAMINODIFENILSULFONA en
presentación comercial de tabletas de 100 mgrs.
EQUIPO MEDICO DEL LEPROCOMIO DE CABO BLANCO, EN LOS RECUADROS: CONVIT Y
LAPENTA
En los años 1.960 a 1.970 aparecen los medicamentos CLOFAZIMINA y RIFAMPICINA,
altamente efectivos contra EL
MYCOBACTERIUM LEPRAE
y se instaura el llamado tratamiento MTD (MULTI DRUGS THERAPY) con estas
tres medicinas, con un buen margen de éxito contra esta estigmatizante y
bíblica enfermedad.
Este evento es lo que DECRETA O MATERIALIZA el cierre de las
LEPROSERÍAS en el MUNDO, manteniendo a los pacientes bajo un estricto
control de sus medicamentos. De hecho los pacientes ya fuera de las
leproserías iban y van a los centros de control epidemiológico
mensualmente y se les educa como tomar los medicamentos, y sus posibles
reacciones adversas.
Lo que les voy a contar ahora quizá les caiga de sorpresa a algunos, pero
es la realidad. !
Usted se mete en Google y busca "LEPROCOMIO DE CABO BLANCO" y no va a
conseguir casi información, al contrario con respecto de la LEPROSERÍA DE
LA ISLA DE PROVIDENCIA. Pareciera que se lo hubiese "comido el mar"... y
así fue...
En los años que fue decretado el cierre de la LEPROSERÍA DE ISLA DE
PROVIDENCIA en Maracaibo Estado Zulia, también se hace lo mismo con CABO
BLANCO, pero acá hay una historia diferente.
TRABAJOS CIENTÍFICOS SOBRE LEPRA PUBLICADOS POR CONVIT Y LAPENTA
Mi Padre ya había abandonado el campo de la investigación, por cierto
allí les dejo 11 trabajos mas que realizó conjuntamente con CONVIT,
incluso inoculación en animales. NO FUE CONVIT SOLO,
FUERON CONVIT y LAPENTA...y otros más, vea los adjuntos.
El Dr. Jacinto CONVIT ordeno el cierre de EL LEPROCOMIO DE CABO
BLANCO por dos razones.
1.) Ya no se justificaban las leproserías
ante los NUEVOS TRATAMIENTOS.
2.) El aeropuerto de Maiquetía iba a ser AMPLIADO
en sus pistas de aterrizaje, y para ello había que demoler el
LEPROCOMIO, pues ocupaba lo que iba a ser la pista más larga del mismo.

Mi tío Fernando Lapenta el hombre que lo demolió me dijo que esa era
una de las razones. !

FERNANDO JOSE LAPENTA TORTOLERO, a través de mi PADRE su amigo personal DR. PEDRO LAPENTA, para que
ejecutara la "obra".
DR. PEDRO LAPENTA DIRECTOR DE CABO BLANCO MÁS DE 15 AÑOS,
FERNANDO LAPENTA, EL INGENIERO QUE LO DEMOLIÓ Y LO TIRÓ AL
MAR
Cuenta mi tío FERNANDO que cuando llegó a CABO BLANCO, lo primero que vio
en LA ENTRADA, fue un letrero que decía: LEPROCOMIO DE CABO BLANCO,
DIRECTOR: DR. PEDRO LAPENTA... "le tomé foto a todo eso ".. me dijo, hoy
no las tengo acá.
Hablando con mi tío le pregunte: ..Que hiciste con la estructura..?"
El me contesto: .."
Era una estructura fantasma...y LA TIRE AL MAR CON UN TRACTOR
CATERPILLAR"
es decir la empuje, pues el LEPROCOMIO ESTABA CERCA DE LAS COSTAS.. DEL
MAR CARIBE.
Esa es la historia de como "desapareció" el LEPROCOMIO DE CABO BLANCO".. ciertamente se lo trago el
mar...MI TIO, REPITO, LO LANZÓ AL MAR
!!! Mi padre fue director 18 a 20 años, mi tío lo demolió !
Pero que paso con los pacientes que allí quedaban ??.
ESQUEMA DE CÓMO FUE LANZADO AL MAR EL LEPROSARIO CON UN TRACTOR CATERPILLAR, POR FERNANDO LAPENTA
Ellos fueron trasladados al ESTADO GUÁRICO
a una urbanización PARA LEPROSOS, que CONVIT mandó a construir para
ellos. Yo fui testigo de esto porque en mi segundo (2) año de pasantía
por la división de LEPRA en el HOSPITAL CENTRAL DE MARACAY bajo el mando
del DR. JORGE ALVARADO ROMERO,
año 1.992, tuve la oportunidad de examinar un paciente con LEPRA
procedente de esa zona.
PACIENTES TODAVÍA CON LEPRA "MOVIDOS" POR CONVIT AL ESTADO GUARICO
Si examinas bien los adjuntos podrás ver un mapa de los ESTADOS MAS
ENDÉMICOS DE LEPRA en Venezuela
(Guárico, portuguesa, Trujillo, Barinas y Apure)
PARA el año 1.997, una década o más, después de cerrado CABO BLANCO. Los
pacientes allí trasladados desde CABO BLANCO, se presume que la
difundieron.
Para el año 2.102 el mismo CONVIT
hace una publicación donde menciona que El Estado Portuguesa es
una zona hiper endémica de LEPRA EN VENEZUELA.
No fue como dice WIKIPEDIA Y esos blogs que usted lee por allí:
"...
Entonces J. CONVIT descubrió la VACUNA Y desapareció la
LEPRA.."
Esa información ES FALSA. Convit
fallece en 2.014.
Para el 2.015 la OMS (Organización Mundial para la Salud) reporta
215.000 mil casos nuevos de LEPRA en el mundo, y pronto hare una actualización.
Convit fue un gran investigador y "creó" LA INMUNOTERAPIA PARA LA LEPRA,
ayudando inmensamente contra esta enfermedad, su obra es invaluable,
pero lamentablemente esta INMUNOTERAPIA FRACASO, hoy día el
tratamiento MUNDIAL para la LEPRA
es la Multi Droga Terapia (MTD): SULFONAS (DDS), mas RIFAMPICINA y en
algunos casos CLOFAZIMINE.
Pero también el DR, LAPENTA, mi padre tiene sus méritos en todo esto,
pues fue quien DIRIGIÓ esos 2 LEPROSARIOS por muchos años y
conjuntamente con CONVIT publicó grandes trabajos sobre la LEPRA como
les dije previamente ambos formaron una "llave maestra", en esa época,
luchando contra la enfermedad.

personal que vivió en
CABO BLANCO Y PROVIDENCIA.
CERTIFICACIÓN DE QUE EL DR Dr. JOHN REENSTIERNA SUECO EXPERIMENTO UN SUERO ANTI LEPROSO EN CABO BLANCO EN 1.937
Como dato interesante en el año 1.937 el Dr. JOHN REENSTIERNA
profesor de la UNIVERSIDAD DE UPSALA SUECIA, utilizó un suero
"anti leproso" en 30 pacientes del LEPROCOMIO DE CABO BLANCO,
contratado para esa época por su DIRECTOR, el FAMOSO DR. MARTIN
VEGAS.
Las LEPROSERIAS tuvieron muchos DIRECTORES, porque duraron casi un
SIGLO O MAS, todos ellos merecen un NOMBRE EN LA HISTORIA. Mi padre
DR. PEDRO LAPENTA fue uno de ellos.
Tu que me estas leyendo, si eres medico o dermatólogo, averigua la
historia de los LEPROSARIOS en el mundo, te darás cuenta de la gran
lucha del hombre contra esta enfermedad.
